How to maintain shock absorbers

In order to rapidly attenuate the vibration of the frame and the body and improve the smoothness and comfort of the car, the car suspension system is generally equipped with shock absorbers, and the car widely uses two-way acting cylinder shock absorbers.
Shock absorber is a vulnerable accessory during the use of the car, the shock absorber works well or badly, will directly affect the stability of the car driving and the life of other mechanical parts, so we should make the shock absorber often in good working condition. The following methods can be used to check whether the shock absorber works well.
1. Make the car stop after driving 10km on the road surface with poor road conditions, touch the shock absorber shell with your hand, if it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber, and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, you can add appropriate lubricating oil, and then test, if the shell is hot, it is a lack of oil inside the shock absorber, and enough oil should be added otherwise, indicating that the shock absorber fails.
2. Press the bumper hard, and then release, if the car has 2~3 jumps, the shock absorber is working well.
3. When the car is driving slowly and braking urgently, if the car vibrates violently, there is a problem with the shock absorber.
4. Remove the shock absorber to stand it upright, and clamp the lower end connecting ring on the vice, pull the vibration damper several times, at this time there should be stable resistance, the resistance to pull up should be greater than the resistance when pressing down, such as unstable resistance or no resistance, it may be that the shock absorber is short of oil or the valve parts are damaged, and the parts should be repaired or replaced.

After determining that the shock absorber is defective or has failed, you should first check whether the shock absorber has leaked oil or has traces of old oil leakage.
If the shock absorber does not leak oil, check whether the bushing is damaged, desoldered, cracked or peeled. If the above inspection is normal, the shock absorber should be further disassembled, check whether the matching gap between the piston and the cylinder barrel is too large, whether the cylinder barrel is strained, whether the valve seal is good, whether the valve disc and the valve seat fit tightly, and whether the extension spring of the shock absorber is too soft or broken, according to the check shock absorber connection pin, connecting rod, connection hole, rubber, the situation to repair or replace the repair.
In addition, the shock absorber will make a sound failure in actual use, which is mainly caused by the collision between the shock absorber and the leaf spring, frame or shaft, the rubber pad is damaged or falling off, and the shock absorber dust cylinder deformation, insufficient oil and other reasons, the cause should be found out and repaired.
When the resistance frequency is 100±1mm, the resistance of the extension stroke and compression stroke should meet the regulations, indicating that the shock absorber is basically normal.
