1. Consider the shock absorber type
(I) Choose according to the vehicle structure requirements
For some small and light vehicles, if you pay more attention to comfort and economic cost, hydraulic shock absorbers are a more suitable choice.
If it is a large SUV or pickup truck or other heavy-duty vehicle, due to the need for better load-bearing capacity and shock absorption effect, pneumatic shock absorbers or double-tube shock absorbers may be more suitable.
(II) Choose according to driving conditions
If you often drive on flat roads in the city, ordinary single-tube hydraulic shock absorbers can provide sufficient comfort. Because urban roads are less bumpy, the performance requirements for shock absorbers are relatively low. This kind of shock absorber with simple structure and low cost is a good choice.
For vehicles that often drive on rural dirt roads or mountain off-road sections, it is necessary to choose a relatively hard damping setting or a shock absorber with variable damping function.
If you often drive on highways, choose a shock absorber that can better control the stability of the vehicle at high speed.
2. Pay attention to the performance parameters of the shock absorber
(I) Load-bearing capacity
Different vehicles have different dead weight and load requirements. It is necessary to ensure that the selected shock absorber has sufficient load-bearing capacity. For example, the shock absorbers of large buses or trucks need to be able to withstand the heavier weight of the vehicle body and the weight of passengers and cargo, otherwise the shock absorbers are prone to premature wear or failure.
(II) Damping force
The size of the damping force directly affects the shock absorption effect. It is necessary to choose the appropriate damping force according to the driving characteristics of the vehicle and personal comfort preferences. If you like a softer and more comfortable driving experience, choose a shock absorber with a relatively small damping force; if you focus on driving control, such as when driving a sports car, you need a shock absorber with a larger damping force to suppress excessive rebound of the spring and improve the stability of the vehicle during cornering, acceleration and braking.
(III) Elasticity
Elasticity mainly depends on the structural design of the shock absorber and the materials used, which affects the vehicle's buffering effect on vibration. Good elasticity can enable the vehicle to quickly return to a stable state after a bump, and at the same time protect the vehicle's suspension system and other components from excessive impact.
3. Compatible models
Make sure that the shock absorber matches your model. The chassis structure, body weight, suspension system, etc. of different models are different. Only by choosing a shock absorber suitable for this model can the installation and use effect be guaranteed.
4. Brand and price
(I) Brand selection
Choosing shock absorbers from well-known brands can guarantee quality and after-sales service.
(II) Price considerations
Choose products with high cost performance within the budget. Shock absorbers of different prices may differ in quality, function and durability. Do not choose unknown brands just because they are cheap. For example, some domestically produced cheaper shock absorbers may not be as good as well-known imported brands in terms of quality and service life, although they are cheap. However, you should also pay attention to avoid unnecessary high-priced purchases and consider the balance between performance and price.
